| Thomas Pitkin was born in Berkhamstead, England in 1803 the 5th son of Thomas Pitkin and Ann Bone, and married Sarah Hill, the daughter of Thomas Hill and Sarah Reynard, in 1829 at Chesham, England. After a while they ended up moving to Scotland to live where they had five children before deciding to immigrate to Australia in 1841. Thomas and Sarah worked as a butler and housemaid respectively for a Lord William Keith Robert Douglas at Grangemuir, Fife, Scotland. |
